It has been proven that there are a lot of positives to getting pedicures. Try to soak your feet in a foot bath. Try to let your feet stay in a tub filled with warm water for at least a few minutes. It is also a great idea to mix in things like bath salts, skin softeners or skin soothers to the water. This makes your foot bath a lot more relaxing and is a good way to indulge your feet to help them feel better. Almost every bath and body area of stores sell things to make a foot bath better. Of course, some might cost a little more but go for the ones you like most.
Use a pumice stone to get rid of any rough spots or calluses that may still be there after the foot soak. Avoid using a callus shaver or something similar. Good old pumice stones are perfectly fine.
After you’ve finished with the pumice, it is time to rinse off your feet. When you have washed off any pumice or callus dust and any foot soak additives that might be clinging on, slather some moisturizing lotion. There are lots of moisturizing lotions available particularly for the feet. It is fine to just rub in the lotion rapidly if you are pressed for time, but try not to settle for this. Rather, if you can, deeply massage in the lotion. Massage works to relax your feet and, by extension, your whole body.
After your feet are clean, callus free and moisturized, you’ll need to make them pretty. Though this isn’t exactly an essential step, knowing that your toes are pretty (even if you’re the only person who can see them because your feet are stuffed into closed toe shoes all day) can do quite a lot for your self-esteem. Push back your cuticles with a cuticle pusher (the trimmers can cause cuts on your skin and cause infections). Next, apply a base layer of nail strengthening polish. As soon as that dries, you can try painting your toes in whatever colors or designs you like.
